RoHS - Restriction of Hazardous Substances
The RoHS Directive stands for "the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment".
This Directive will ban the placing on the EU market of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of 6 substances
beginning 1 July 2006.
Cadmium (Cd)
Mercury (Hg)
Lead (Pb)
Hexavalent Chromium (Cr6+)
Polybrominated Biphenyl (PBB)
Polybrominated Diphenyl Ether (PBDE)
The extraction of these raw materials and their eventual disposal can cause damage to both the environment in terms of pollution,
as well as to human health from occupational exposure and exposure following disposal. The removal of these materials from production will
